If the breeder is guaranteeing that the pup won't grown more than 5 pounds, I doubt if I would trust her. Every breeder I've spoken to says you can't guarantee size. Sure, good breeders breed to standard, and that's "most not exceed 7 pounds," occasionally there are genetic anomalies and you just can't do anything about it. Most buyers do won't a pup in the 5 pound range, so I'm not surprised some breeders promise it. To answer you question, a 5 pound Yorkie, can be very healthy, once you get under 4 pounds, it gets riskier. |
