Yes, those scrunchies are too heavy for my girl's hair. I use very lightweight rubber bands from Laineeltd.com. Do wrap the band many times around the hair so it's wrapped very tight. But don't pull the hair tight & be very careful not to pull skin into the band. (This may sound stupid, but I did it more than once when I was a "novice" & that little piece of skin lost all it's hair.) Done like this they never come loose. For a dog with thin hair I think it's important to take the band out every night, from the back with one of those little hook scissors.
