We have a fairly new yorkie named, Rainey. I dont think she is quite 1 year old yet. I would say we have had her for about 6 months. We couldn't ask for a better behaved dog. She is SO sweet! oh.. But then, in Dec/January she started to hump my husband and my son. During this time that she started doing this, she started to become aggressive to me ... just me. I am the only female in the house (besides the dog lol). Not sure if this whole thing is a female dominance over the males in the house or just coincidence. this is the first dog I have ever owned so I am still learning a lot.
Here is what has happened since she got her "period" and started humpfest with all of the males in the home: She is laying with my son at night as usual, but when I get close to her she shows her top teeth, makes threatening sounds, even snaps a few times when I get closer. She has not actually bit me, but her biting threats arent overlooked. She is basically guarding a large area and threatening me in a very scary way. She wants me to know she means it.
I stay up late at night sometimes reviewing video and audio footage from my paranormal investigations, when I am ready to go to bed, she is right there in my spot. It used to be just fine, I would just scoot her and she would sleep with me teddy bear style. But now, she guards my entire bed spot and growls, shows teeth, snaps, etc. I mean, I tried to touch my pillow and she went nuts. I couldnt lay down! So I had to yell and yell till my husband woke up and he was very surprised at how aggressive she was to me and how she went all Cujo on me. Now.. a couple nights ago I went out of my bedroom and went back and she was not too far from the door and definitely threatening me to not come any closer inside my bedroom.
She is Growling, teeth showing, snapping, guarding, threatening, and making the weirdest gargling sounds ... I don't know, it is really strange, the other night I saw her stand up on her hind legs, put her head up looking at the ceiling and then made the strangest sounds like gargling. I have no idea what to make of that!
Besides these occasional aggressive / scary moments we share, she is normally hopping on my lap, sleeping with me, our relationship for the most part is just fine. Besides the fact that I am the only female in the home, another factor could be the other day I was holding her and tripped on the porch. I held her up high and took the fall, so she wasn't hurt. I checked for bruises or any reaction showing she may have got hurt, but she still is not showing any signs. I've considered the idea she could possibly be angry at me thinking I tried to hurt her, I don't know.
What do you think is going on? I am starting to get scared that she is going to attack me and frustrated that I can't get into my own bed. For such a cute, sweet pup.. she sure can put some fear in a person!
