The BEST dental care you can do is to brush their teeth every night b4 bedtime, just like we do our's. I use vet recommended C.E.T enzymatic toothpaste. I like vanilla-mint flavor the best.
Since he's a teething puppy, food can get stuck between the baby teeth & the new emerging adult teeth. So brushing, even tho those baby teeth will eventually fall out, is still important. Most of all, they'll get used to teeth brushing, which is easier if we start early. It's best to get the retained baby teeth removed @ the same time of neuter surgery.
As for chews, we've tried bully sticks, himalayan chews & antlers. Currently since they're all older & doesn't need to chew as much, they only get The Honest Kitchen's Beams (catfish skin) or PolkaDog Cod Skins, both dehydrated, chewy chews packed w/omega 3's. It doesn't last long, my strongest chewer can eat it up in 15-20 mins. I give it to them b4 bath time bc it is stinky.
Yes, we also avoid raw hides & greenies, it's dangerous! Choking hazard & it can cause blockages. As w/all chews, they must be supervised & it has the ability to damage teeth. |
