There's a lot of hormones going on. Does she pant all the time or only when feeding the pup? Nursing causes the uterus to contract, and she may be uncomfortable. Or she may just be hot. We had a heater for our pups and mom would get too warm. She would get out of the box and lay on the tile floor. Also, is she on pain meds? My momma dog took pain meds for 2 days after her c-section. She also did a lot of panting at night. |
I've seen her pant once or twice while feeding, but usually only at night. She has gotten hot, so I sometimes turn the heating pad off and let baby snuggle up to her while Mommy licks on an ice cube. I originally thought it was just because she's hot, until she started digging and burying herself under covers.
Also, he didn't send her home with any pain meds. Just antibiotics.
