Sleepover playdate? Advice? Maggie might be having her first sleepover. Her boyfriend Charlie might need us to watch him Mon and Mon night.
Maggie LOVES him. When he is on his walk she will CRY when she sees him coming, like she will die if I don't take her out. She will even come up and get me if I am upstairs. They run around and wrestle and french kiss. She lays on her back and lets him have his way...He often seems to grab her by the throat or neck, then she pushes him off and they start again. After a while they settle down and will walk together.
Maggie sleeps downstairs in her crate which now is stuffed with her Cloud 9 fleece bed, barely room for her! I think Charlie might have the run of the house, not sure where he sleeps, but he isn't crated. Maggie will stay in her crate until 10am, Charlie gets a walk at 7am. I'm hoping that when dear hubby leaves at 6 am that he can just let Charlie out back and he can pee. I don't get up at 7am and I certainly don't walk a dog then!
How do you think I should handle sleeping? Right now Maggie is asleep (or chilling) on a wing chair in the living room. She went in there around 10:30 and it's 11:45. I'll carry her into the family room when I go up in a little bit. Sometimes she'll crash on the sofa. If it's the weekend she'll lay with me in bed until hubby comes up (weeknights he goes up early and she stays down with me).
I thought I'd just let her and Charlie have the run of the house. Maggie has her crate/bed, a bed near the front door and another on an ottoman by a window. Plenty of soft places (plus sofas). I'll leave her crate door open. They get along well so I guess they'll be ok. It will be Charlies first night staying here. Good thing they are both fixed! It would be so cute if they both went in crate and snuggled, but I don't think they will. On the indoor playdates they have had they have usually rested apart when they took a break, but the breaks didn't last long. |
