We assume that all dogs from shelters are sick. They are vaccinated when the are recieved and then placed in the general population. No time whatsoever to build up immunities. We won't take any puppies that have been placed in the shelter but frequently they call us to say they have a new litter and we'll take them from the owner. They try but realize how difficult it is save them once they're exposed. Our local shelter has such a high incidence of parvo and now distemper that we don't even pull from them. Sad but too risky for our own and foster dogs. We don't have kennels and all our dogs are in foster. Only a few of us have set ups for isolation.
