We had -1 degrees here in North Texas once & I would never ever want to go through that again. The central heat ran night and day for 24 hours or more! You fear your pipes will freeze and burst, the power could go out and you would be miserably cold and in the dark for days, your car battery will die just when you will need the car to go to a hotel if things get too bad, things like that. I hope the dang polar vortex stays in place for the rest of the winter!
