Diarrhea Dilemma and dismayed with disinterest??? Hi all!
My name is Lauren and i have two yorkie babies named Stella and Sony. Stella is two and Sony is 1. I am a very high anxiety person and so i have been very worried about them because they mean the world to me.
Sony: In November Sony became ill and was sick for two months! I spent well above what i could really afford to spend on x-rays... sonograms.... blood tests.... and different types of meds. It all started with diarrhea.. then it went away... and then after spending a month and a half trying to figure out what was wrong finally she was diagnosed with a bad urinary tract infection (she started to squat and dribble everywhere.) SO gradually it goes away and Sony gets back to her happy self and starts eating like a piggy and playing and barking again. I thought to myself "YAy!! the ordeal is over!" Well then two weeks later Sony is lethargic and has diarrhea... This makes me very upset and i take her to another vet that i know and trust... She discovers that she has clostritium (dont know how to spell it) Bacteria in her stool. The doc sends me home with meds and special gastrointestinal food for her and stella just in case. Well she takes the meds and gets back to normal and is feeling froggy and fancy free.
This past Sunday (since it was the first nice day in what seems like forever) I took my girls on a walk to the park and they got to run like crazy and play all over a fenced in baseball field. They had a blast! we got back to our house and both heartily drank water. SOny then proceeds to throw up which she does sometimes. I don't know if it because of air build up or what. I have to leave to go to a friend's gathering and i come back and everything seems fine. I feed the girls their dinner and Sony wouldn't eat... Then she proceeds to have diarrhea on my living room floor... I just don't get it. I made a quick trip to walmart and got pepto and potty pads. It is Tuesday evening now and she still has runny stool. She is eating and drinking fine now and is on special gastrointestinal food and is playing but her poo hasn't gone back to normal. Sunday morning she ate breakfast like a pig and had normal stool. It is like it was the large amount of exercise and she did eat some grass... But if it was grass, wouldn't it have passed by now? I am so frustrated it isnt even funny. She seems fine otherwise. Should i keep giving her pepto?
Stella: Stella is eating well (I feed Orijen dog food) and her stool is normal... but her activity level has really been down for at least the past week. She has been sleeping nearly all the time with the exception of walks and such. Could she just be depressed? It has been way too cold (negative temperatures at night and low teens during the day) So they haven't been getting the walks they are used to.... when they weather permits they are used to getting a 40 min- an hour of walk adventure everyday... Sunday was the first day that was wonderful. It was sunny and almost 60 so i took them to the park (as i mentioned above) She played like a maniac for a solid 20 mins and would've played longer if i had been able to stay. But then she comes back in the house and it is hard to get her to play for very long. She has mopey days sometimes but it doesn't normally extend over a week... so i am worried about that too. I wish my dogs could just be healthy. lol. I love them so much. I ordered some sample bags of orijen and acana that have different proteins to see if she likes any and if she does, if it will help her energy level and some gas issues she has... maybe she has allergies? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!! Thanks so much! |
