If the vitamin already has calcium, not sure why you want to add more? I'm not too sure about this since I know nothing about vitamins, but the calcium to phosphorus levels in dog food needs to be 2:1 or 1:1. So an excess of calcium will cause an imbalance...maybe this is a question to ask your vet?

As for a supplement for their knees, I used to give my guys cosequin. It's liver flavored, so they liked it sprinkled on top of their kibble, even picky Mimi liked it. It came in powder form in capsules.
