One of the more common health issues in yorkies is Progressive Retinal Atrophy. An ophthalmologist will dilate the eyes and check them thoroughly for early signs of PRA or other abnormal eye conditions that could be passed on to offspring. Hip issues are hip dysplasia and legge perthes. Blood chem panels can check Kidney function, thyroid, etc to make sure the dog is healthy before breeding.
