She might not need surgery she may just need some anti inflammatory medicine and rest for a few weeks. Not all LP results in needing surgery there are some who go there whole life's with it and never need surgery. My yorkie had the surgery and besides it being expensive it was rough on her. I had no choice because her ACL was tearing but I would always try a conservative approach first unless she is in extrem pain and the orthopedic surgeon doesn't think there is any chance the conservative approach will work.
