I groomed dogs for 7 years and have 4 of my own yorkies. I have never found cutting their hair to change the texture. If you have brown curly hair and shave your head, your hair isn't going to grow back straight and blonde. All of my guys still have the same texture and hair color they always have. I think what some people have happen though is they shave their puppies and the adult hair starts to grow in faster so in their mind that is the hair texture changing when that is what is going to happen as their puppy grows anyway. Only two of mine are JUST now starting to have some silver show through on their backs (they stayed black for some reason), but they are also not 2 years old anymore. haha Shhh, we just tell them they are turning into handsome, silver foxes.
