How about a consult with a board certified internist as I suggested? If you can manage it, it might be a better option than just jumping to an exploratory surgery. Second opinions are always good to have! If you cannot do that, I understand, but I am throwing it out there. Sometimes they might initially seem expensive but I have found they often cut to the chase a lot quicker than regular vets and they try minimally invasive first.
