Yes! We even use some that were designed as cat feeding devices. Also, we use 1 liter soda/water bottles (like Clear American from Walmart) with the labels and ink taken off as toys--treats and bully sticks fit nicely in there and make plenty of noise to keep Piper interested.
And I forgot to add to my list the very small squeaky tennis balls. My male couldn't care less, but Piper is a huge fan.
