I think the dog food advisor looks at foods mostly from an ingredient standpoint. Personally, I am interested in ingredients but I also want to know about the quality of the ingredients. It takes some additional steps and a lot of digging to get that information.

The FDA is allowing human food processors to sell old rotting food that cannot be used on humans to be sold to pet food companies. Maybe that has something to do with all the recalls we see these days. At any rate looking into where your pet food company buys ingredients from and how they are processed is very important. If information is not easily forthcoming then perhaps consider another company.

I have found that many pet food companies do not want to talk about their suppliers or the process.
