Yes, it has. My great grandmother had her favorite cat stuffed (after it died, of course) and kept it on the hearth. This was in the 1930s and 40s. It freaked my mom out when she went to visit.
I could not ever even consider stuffing my handsome boys. Chuck and I HAVE discussed stuffing him, however, so the boys can still snuggle with him after he's gone. (Lol)
