No, ortho surgery is not cheap. YHR has had pups with this injury and it is costly. Trying to repair it without a plate and pins has only a 5% chance of working. I really don't know why vets do it to be honest because if it does not heal, then often bone grafting is necessary as kimp5 said. And, sadly, sometimes it is too late as was the case with Snickers one of the YHR foster pups. It was left too long and they tried grafting but it did not take. He ended up with an amputation.

I hope you are using a specialist for this surgery.

As for after the surgery, it is very important that she be quiet for the time period they will specify...usually 8 weeks. I have used a stroller with my last two ortho cases and they loved it...that way they go from room to room. You must either close it or leash her into it if you do that so that she does not jump out.
