Default Bitey

We've had our Shelby for 2 months now - she's now 6-months old. Although not hugely 'bitey', she does get excited and forgets herself.

Two simple things we got from our trainer that have worked really well-

Redirect - always have chew toys around for her to chew on and redirect her mouth to.

"Too bad"- if she bites on one of us - say "too bad" (not loud, just like you would normally say "too bad" - cross arms, and look away (and if not on the floor with her, which I am often, I'll walk away). Usually just for 5-10 seconds - totally withdrawing attention even for a short bit really brings it home to her. If she hasn't been bitey for a while and then forgets herself and bites us - it's an instant reminder.

If we go back to her and she gets bitey again, it's "too bad" again - at first it took 5 or so times - now we seldom have to do more than once and she remembers the rules. She does not like to have attention withdrawn, even for a little bit - particularly when she was having fun!
