With a child you have to teach them not only where to go but to also let you know they need to go, same with a pup. To me teaching a pup to go outside is only half the battle, why not incorporate an alert in the process. The only alert I know that I can hear throughout my house is ringing a strand of jingle bells and it was easy to teach, and believe me she is not easy to teach tricks to. I don't know how long you have the foster pup and if the time would be worth it for you. Perhaps like someone else said it would be easier to just take her out often. |
I'm not expecting her to tell me when she needs to go potty. What I was hoping to find out is if little girls have a "tell" or a "signal" like intense sniffing or circling or something. I only asked because I've never had a little girl before and she didn't seem to sniff or do anything until it's too late and she has already potties on my couch or my floor. Whenever I get a new foster pup, I never leave them out of my sight. They are either in a basket or bed next to me while I do dishes, tethered to me by a harness and leash if I'm walking around varying laundry, or they're in a crate or expen if I can't watch them. I'm not new to this. I'm just new to girls and wanted input on their differences.
