but "pit bulls" were also used to bait bulls. The thing is 'pit bull' is not a real breed. It's more of just a term often used to describe different breeds - such as the APBT, Stafford, etc.

But Pits used to be used as 'nanny dogs' as well and definitely have gotten a bad rep. in the media these days. Very sad.

Also, please don't get any of my posts wrong. I am actually an advocate for the pit bull breed, and am utterly against BSL, and think they are awesome dogs (just not for me), but I don't trust strange pits around other dogs.
