Dogs can breed through a fence, a baby gate, a crate and can rip a doggy diaper or belly band off to get to each other.
Your only way of knowing she won't get pregnant is not allowing them anywhere near each other. Males have been known to chew through doors and walls to get to a female in heat!! And it truly takes a few seconds for them to tie and a pregnancy result-I have puppies to prove this!
