I wouldn't doubt that one at all. The dogs are barking for the interaction with you more than anything else.

Mine are more into nosework -- sniffing out stuff for treats -- than fetching balls. But it's the same result: They bark until I hide the odor for them. They can't get enough of it. I think I'd rather throw a ball!
