These stories are so very comforting. My Dad passed a couple of years ago of Alzheimer's as well. Such a dreadful disease. Before my Dad got sick he could fix anything! The doorbell at Mom and Dad's house hadn't worked for years because it broke after Dad got sick and my Mom just never had it fixed. After Dad passed a family friend had an Edible Arrangement delivered to the house. The doorbell rang when the delivery guy arrived and we all just froze! Even the intercom was working. That was the only time it worked until my Mom got it fixed about a year later. I know my Dad came and fixed it for the delivery to let us know he was alright.

I'm sorry for the loss of your Grandfather. I hope those fried apples gave you and your family comfort.
