"Optional" would appeal to me best, rather than MORE intrusive laws and regulations and restrictions, prompted by animal rights activists who are not actually knowledgable of the procedures they are "against", and passed into law by legislators who have NO idea of what they are doing or why, just responding to lobbyist with the deepest pockets and largest bankrolls.

I agree full heartily, it should be an option and the government should not have to make laws about it
