The surgeon I used is amazing and believe me if it needed to have something done...or it could be safely done, he would do it. I had given him the ok yesterday to do whatever he deemed necessary. Her leg is shorter than the other due to bone loss from the fracture site. That had broken in a way that some bone was lost. He said they can lose up to 20% of the bone and she did not lose that much so she should be fine. His main concern was to get that repaired and try to do it in away that MPL will not be an issue. It was an issue due to the type of fracture she had. I have no doubt that she will heal and be just fine....he is truly amazing. He is known all over the world and does things that other surgeons do not do. He once rebuilt a knee on one of my fosters that two other vets had said could not be repaired. I am SO fortunate to have access to such great care! Well, my pups and foster pups are.
Thanks so much for this info. Makes me feel better. Humans are not as resilient, and an xray like that on a human would mean terrible things. We could learn something from our canine friends. Of course, daily I am amazed that people come to the ER with 10 out of 10 pain for some bs crap that I wouldn't even see a doctor for, and here is this pup, broken all to hell, who just kept on keeping on...amazing!!!
