We've had a regular "little dog meetup" for more than 4 years, and since there's no fence we can't control which big dogs show up. Most of the obedience instructors I've talked to don't like dog parks for the unpredictability of it, but we've had pretty good luck.
The dogs that are good with other dogs stick around and become regulars. The dogs that are bullies, victims or stressed tend to stop coming -- or learn how to adapt. Since the vast majority of us humans know each other and communicate on our FB group page, we can call attention to problems that develop.
This article is right on the money and would help newcomers learn the ropes a little quicker. It's also nice as a reminder and warning to those of us who think we know the signs. We have more than 200 people on our page, so an article like this would be seen by a lot of people.
Thanks again. | She knows her dogs and how to manage them!
