Default reservations about law

As much as I enjoy seeing the full tails, I prefer the docking question not become a legal matter. We have too many laws as it is. I think the practice is just a very brief, uncomfortable little pinch to the puppy being docked and not cruelty. I'd like to see the practice of docking fade away on its own as the public increasingly insists on wanting the full tails left on. It's already "unofficially" OK to show a Yorkie with a full tail here in the US and I believe a few Yorkies have won their CH titles undocked. Making the docking optional in the standard may help us avoid more legislation down the road.
Wishful thinking?
