You can never be too careful.
A vet or a boarding facility is ok for a 2-3 week vacation. This person is looking to board their dog for 18 months while they are on a mission that the pup cannot join her on. That's why I suggested she post a thread or "ad" here seeing if there is anyone in her/his area she/he can meet, interview, maybe even setup an account with hat person's vet for that length of time. It would be more of a foster situation than boarding. I have met some truly wonderful people here on YT. One of them is the one person in the world I trust my beloved Kaji to when I go on vacation. She's a lifesaver, loves him as much as I do, and it helps that her dog is Kaji's BFF. It also helps that I know she's a foster mom, which tells me just how big her heart is for this breed. That's why I suggested this poster try to make a local friend through this board. Who knows, they may end up having a great friend they could truly trust with their pup.
