I used to board my big lab at the vet years ago, but because of his size, he had a large run with an opening to the outside (yes, I made sure I toured the premises before leaving him there). Our old vet where we used to live would let our lab have free run of the place & he mostly slept on the sofa in the vet's office. We have only boarded our yorkie twice at the vet (same one) but due to his size, he was in a crate & let out only a few times a day. It was traumatic for me to leave him, so now we just find dog-friendly places to go, or dh & I go out of town seperately so someone stays with Huey

. I have an emergency back up plan of a coworker who also has a yorkie, so if I have to leave spur of the moment or go somewhere he is not allowed, I have a safe place for him to stay. I think I'm done with boarding unless there is no other choice.
