There are many potential causes. Could be a bladder infection that might be secondary to another health issue.
There are often not any other symptoms, but sometimes the color of the urine will be dark or super light. It may also have an abnormal odor.
How long have you had your puppy? Did this just start happening?
No matter what, excessive peeing is not normal and should be checked by a vet. Is he drinking excessively too? How are his poops? Eating? Is he active?
