We are the kind of household that can't go 48 hours without a trip to the grocery store, so I have often thought of stocking up on essentials.
In our area, a hurricane and a couple of tropical storms cleared the grocery stores shelves.
I often wonder how long food and essential items really last though. There is so much that wouldn't go more than a couple of years. Even canned foods have expiration dates, don't they? I often end up throwing out frozen veggies that wilt in their unopened bags.
