How long have you been doing the 10 min ignore thing? It can take awhile for them to get used to being away from you. Is he barking that early because he needs to go outside to use the bathroom? Do you have a tshirt or towel that you've used that you would allow him to have in his crate/pen so he can smell you when you're not home? That worked for me when I had to leave home for more than an hour. The main thing is be consistent. Once you've decided on a course of action don't stop because you're not seeing results quickly he'll get the hint eventually
