Try and make it fun to be in the crate, try and make I this fun place , giving him little bits of his food is a good idea .Keep the door open and let him come in and out and let him have little naps in there.
I would keep it open like a little kennel that he comes to like going in not somewhere that he is put in and left on his own. Good luck
