I believe you mean avascular necrosis? This is usually a very painful condition and dead bone cannot be fixed any other way than surgery.
I highly recommend that you have a consult with an orthopedic surgeon for a second opinion.
If they are talking about FHO surgery, it really is not as awful as it sounds; and the pups usually do very well. I have had a few that had it over the years. Two of my personal pups had it.
