Please tell me to chill out and give it time, that 8 days isn't enough time, that this is not uncommon. He comes from a great home, probably misses his Mom, had his entire world turned upside down, it is 6 degrees outside (that used to affect our last one), is still shocked and comatose and will come around. Right? Please. Help!

Ok you asked for it. . . Please chill out and give it time !!

As a breeder and raising puppies from day one watching them as they reach different mile stone in the short time they are in my care I see all types of different developmental stages. Some pups are just more outgoing that others and take longer to adjust to change. Leaving momma and their litter mates is a huge deal for a tiny pup. Mom, siblings and the breeder are their whole world and when that is taken away and some do suffer from depression. So be sure that they are getting the proper nutrition and schedules meals are also very important. Plus, making sure that they are getting plenty of rest is also very important.

You will want to watch for signs of Hypoglycemic shock if they are not eating properly: Dog Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar): Symptoms, Treatment, and Prevention Keep some Karo syrup on hand for emergencies.

It takes time for them to adjust to the change in their surrounding and care givers but it will happen. Normally it can take up to 3-4 days but that is just an estimate. Just be sure to spend lots of time cuddling and playing with them. Try some cheerio cereal for treats when playing, there is no harm in bribery.
