We have hawks and owls here, and some pretty gigantic crows. Not sure about crows but I know the owls and hawks will pick them up in no time. I've heard 2 instances where that happened. So Maverick (a solid 3 1/2 puppy lbs) only goes out on a leash with us. It's funny though because I wanted to adopt a dog from a rescue a couple years ago who only adopts to people with a fenced yard and doggy door, so I would have been turned down. Because unsupervised in a yard is obviously safer than on leash with me.
