Taking 10 mg loratadine a day (the active ingredient in regular Claritin minus the huge name-brand markup) has done pretty well for me this last year and a half. The previous year I didn't take them and I was just hammered by the cedar pollen in the winter and the mold in the spring and summer. However, it hasn't been enough this week because I have been outside 10 hours a day all week, so I need to take pseduoephederine (the stuff you have to get from the pharmacy counter since it can be made into meth) at night to clear out my sinuses to sleep. The Sudafed PE on the shelves using phenylephrine is completely useless; they might as well sell a sugar pill.
