1) mine is the same. I stopped catering to that, since I can't spend 30 mins every morning getting him to eat. Not enough time in the morning before work for that nonsense. Now I throw a toy, which he "kills" and happily goes off to eat his food.
2) I think it's harder for the pups to resist marking in pets stores due to all the smells. It smells like a park in there with all the little critters in the cages and all the other dogs that have gone in there and whose owners did not stop them from marking everything.
