My black and tan puppy totally changed colors by the time he was four months old - he changed to a sliver and very light blond/tan. He is awfully pretty right now.
Of course - my pup has been trimmed several times - he is sporting a puppy cut - and the older black and tan hair has long been cut off. His new colors are all that we see now.
Keep an eye your puppy's roots - and you'll see any new colors coming in.
