There is a wonderful little palm-sized, battery-powered dog grooming razor listed under "Yellow Dog" products by ConairePro that I was just lucky enough to run into at TJ Maxx of all places in their dog products aisle. It normally sells for $19.00 or up; they had it for $9.95. It very gently and easily trims Taffy's hair, going downward away from his eyes. It is wonderful for trimming downward around his little paws and across the bottoms of his paws as well as the tops of his ears (don't trim going upward against the edges of the ears though--just hold ear still against your hand and trim flat on front & back. It is such a gentle little humming sound that if I start with Taffy's paws, he's pretty calm by the time I get to his head! I still would rather use the same company's round-tipped scissors on his bottom; I don't want germs from his feces on the palm razor that goes near his eyes. You may spot something like it at a pet shop or contact the Conaire Co. on the internet. It works very safely, I keep a firm hold on his chin.
