Hybrid is a term used by unscrupulous breeders to dupe an uneducated public.
I have a wonderful Maltese/Yorkie mix that came from a rescue group. She is 3 1/2 years old and looks nothing like she did as a puppy. She started off Black and Tan and
teeny tiny. Now she is blonde and gray and 16 pounds! I love her, even if she is the most stubborn dog I've ever had in my life.
