Poor guy. I don't have any advice, but hopefully someone will come along with some suggestions. Have you tried leaving the tv on for him? When we went on vaca this summer, we brought our dogs. We would always turn on a fan and the tv and confine them to one room. We did this as a sound barrier so that surrounding condos couldn't hear them if they barked. But it also kept them from hearing scary noises that would cause them to bark.
