Congrats on being new yorkie parents! When I got my pups it was my first time as well so I know how difficult of an adjustment it can be as a first time puppy mom especially with two at the same time! I think you've already passed the most difficult time period. With both of my pups, I found the first few weeks to be the most difficult. Don't worry about having a "runt" I have one too, on purpose and she is a doll! My advice would be not to overindulge them. We had my oldest pup first and she was very spoiled and we gave in whenever she whined. My youngest pup was also spoiled but we did not give in whenever she whined and she is more obedient than her older sister. Also make sure that you put them on a high quality dog food if they are not on one already. Grooming is also very important, make sure to brush their teeth, clean their ears and make sure that they get all of their shots. You may also want to take a pet cpr class and learn the doggie heimlich maneuver. I've never had to do cpr on my pups but let me tell you that if you ever experience a choking incident with one of your pups it is the scariest thing in the world! Also, I wouldn't leave them with any chew toys while they are not supervised. I've heard so many horror stories about greenies and raw hide. I only let my girls chew on bully sticks and I supervise them when they have them. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions. |
