This is such an important reminder. I've read of several accidents lately where the dog got spooked and took off. The most recent was a MS family travelling through Montgomery, AL and on their way to GA for Thanksgiving. A miracle happened and the baby was found 13 days later.
However, there are many more like this. Also, not just accidents. There is someone searching for their German Shepherd, Trooper. This person had pulled over on the side of the interstate to switch drivers and Trooper jumped out.
I have plenty of people that make fun of me for putting Mandie in a carseat, but if it means my baby doesn't go thru a windshield, get spooked and take off, or such...those people can make fun of me all they want.
