Definitely find out the proper way because I think it can cause more harm than good if done the wrong way. My first suggestion is to make sure the ear hair is trimmed if it isn't..get some of the weight off. If that doesn't help after a bit, taping may work.
I would get the advice and steps from one of our breeders here on the forum, if possible.
