I use hospital grade white bedpads for humans, bc with Tink I have to watch for blood in her urine and can't spot that on the colored pads. They're all holding up really well... still look 'new' to me. I do use softener to help remove hair and lint (problem with the washer), it makes the pee puddle on the pad for a few seconds before it'll soak in, but I like the scent too.

If I can't get them washed right away, sometimes I'll run them through twice (one quick wash, then a normal wash cycle), and/ or set the machine for an extra rinse.
