I brush their teeth w/their mouth open. I use my fingers to keep them from closing their mouth & I make sure the toothbrush is cleaning the outside, inside, the whole tooth. @ 1st, they hated it, but they keep their mouth open for me now. I can't do this to Momo, he won't let me, so I need to try & clean the surfaces as best I can w/out opening his mouth wide.
They have the big tooth on the bottom towards the back & small tooth right behind it. It's the valley over the mountain...says my vet. That spot is hard to clean, so I've found that opening their mouth makes it easier to reach back there. Momo lost 3 of those small molars in the valley on his last cleaning. |
