A tablespoon is way too much. I give my 8 and 9 pound boys pinches and dabs of things. Teddy did not do well with apple. One tiny piece gave him tremendous gas pain.

Also, you do not want treats to exceed 10 -20% of your pup's daily intake or he will be eating an unbalanced diet. Dogs need a much more carefully balanced set of nutrients than humans.
