Avery ate a regular lead pencil once and I was all worried about lead poisoning but my daughter informed me that in 5th grade they explained to them that pencils are made with graphite not the lead as in lead paint and there was nothing to worry about ingesting a small amount. Hope that helps with the lead worry.
